GIR(18 feb'06)

Cassini's Division(Kolkata) - mild music, ridiculous lyrics...
Demonic Resurrection(Munbai) - heavy stuff, decent guitarist
Medusa(Mumbai) - decent
Prestorika(Delhi) - Awesome Guitarist..!
Zero(Mumbai) - Awesome Band & amazing music.. enjoyed it thoroughly...

the sound check... the performance begins... the beats start shaking up every single atom within you... no sooner than you realise it, it physically takes hold over you... the foot tapping, virtual drumming and the head banging... and the effect lingers on even after it all ends... totally worth it...
but somehow i find myself enjoying it live, in the open... not in any kind of confined space...

I am a sucker for romantic songs and movies... the songs bring a smile on my face and i try to find people in my life whom i can associate those songs with... in case of movies, i invariably end up wondering about what kinda love would i want in my life... but once i am done dreaming, reality hits hard... and i sulk over still being unbearably lonely...
i watched two such movies today...

Imperfect God

“a god whose passion is not a redemption, who saves nothing, fulfils no purpose — a god who simply is."
An excerpt from Solaris by Stanislaw Lem

It got me thinking… is there really a purpose for us to exist ? or do we exist because we just do ?
Going with the Intelligent Design theory, some creator mixed the right ingredients together in accurate proportions at the precise time and place… maybe it was an experiment or just a game… but what was the aim…? Did life originate for a reason or as a consequence…?
The start is way too precise to be a coincidence… but origin is not the only mystery.. Darwin’s theory does explain evolution convincingly, but it is jerky with a lot of gaps still to be accounted for… though it does effectively diminish the need of intervention of a superior power…
Going back to the time of Big-bang… what existed before that…?
Does each galaxy has its own creator…?
The magnanimity of the universe baffles me no end… makes me feel like a Nano-spec… totally insignificant… but fortunate at the same time coz I exist… though I still don’t know exactly why…

A Vision

I was standing amidst a fantastic sight,
Of a world shining with bright light,
Greenery was omnipresent,
The air was filled with the flowers scent,
The chirping of birds was mellifluous,
With the power of mesmerizing even the callous,
Equanimity was prevalent,
And the human element was sufficient,
It was nothing but a paradise,
With no words describing it being suffice.

Further ahead of the garden,
Was a beautiful breathtaking ocean,
The sun was casting its spell on the water,
And the blue sky was doing it even better,
As the dusk started to draw upon,
The sun gathered its rays to move on,
Darkness began to envelop everything,
Giving way to star-lit sky which was bewitching,
The moon was full of grace,
And the night advanced at its own pace.

Then came the dawn time,
The birds sang in a rhyme,
Suddenly dewdrops began to give way,
A land very different approached from far away,
It was nothing but a barren land,
With an unending stretch of sand,
The sight was unbearable,
But the truth was irreversible,

It all vanished in a flash,
When my sight with the rooftop clashed,
Soon came the realisation,
That we should be full of admiration,
The future lies in our own hands,
Whether the soothing meadows or the scorching sands.

This is a poem i wrote a few years back, in june 2001 to be precise. just chanced upon it today... and realised i havent written anything in a really long time now...
